With only 4 days left until Christmas I thought I’d post a quick message to wish you all a Merry Christmas and spread some BSL festive cheer.
Last night was my Level 2 BSL class Christmas Party, where we learned lots of festive signs, from mistletoe (and wine) to Father Christmas and we even signed some festive songs.
Here’s a photo of those of us who were there signing Merry Christmas;
(I’m on the far right, thanks to Jan for taking the photo and Annamarie for letting me use it!)
Also this week, I attended a BSL interpreted Carol Service at Sacred Heart Church in Thornton-Cleveleys, which was fantastic. The service was interpreted by a local level 3 student, named Ann who was really enthusiastic and a fantastic signer.
The service was lovely, and the children from the local school who sang also signed Silent Night, which was beautiful to see. However what impressed me most, was the priest who introduced the service and gave the blessings in both English and BSL, which I know takes a lot of concentration! So thanks to everyone who worked hard to make the service so enjoyable.
Finally, the last bit of festivity for now is this video I found earlier on in the week. The young man leading the sign is Lee, who I’ve mentioned before on the blog, a fantastic effort from him and all at the Bristol Uni Sign Society for getting this together and online for everyone to share.
So, have a very merry Christmas, and if I don’t blog again before, a happy new year too!
